So, the plan is to be on the road full-time in 2 1/2 years. Hopefully sooner, but 2 1/2 years is probably realistic. Regardless, time will pass quickly as it always seems to do. It seems like it was only yesterday that I was in my 40s. Now I’m in my 60s.
During this period of time, we have things to do, not the least of which is to get rid of most of our stuff. Fortunately, “stuff” does not include a house. That was gone about 5 years ago. We lease the home we presently live in, but we have plenty of other stuff. Thirty years of hoarding. Furniture and other stuff, and far more vehicles than two people ought to have.
I’ve been doing a lot of research and reading about ways in which to get rid of stuff. I’ve mentioned to Sharon that we may have to have our own estate sale or sales (as in more than one). She thinks I’m kidding.
Yesterday, I posted that we sold one of our vehicles. This is part of our strategic (I love using that word) Escape Plan. Recently, I happened to read some of Becky’s early writings from her blog Interstellar Orchard. She made reference to breaking her “big pile of belongings” into three smaller piles entitled “To get rid of”, “To move into Cas “(RV), and “To hold in storage”. I like that. I think I’ll steal them. 🙂 In fact, not having a house to sell in preparation for our Escape, we have leased a home until next July. Our intent very soon, is to go room to room making a list using Becky’s categories.
